Detailed Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Data Governance Specialist with deep expertise in data management frameworks, metadata governance, and data quality management . The ideal candidate will work closely with data owners, stewards, and cross-functional teams to ensure enterprise-wide adherence to data governance best practices and policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality and compliance.
• Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to understand data requirements and align governance initiatives with organizational goals.
• Implement and manage data cataloging and governance tools (Alation, Collibra, IGC, IA).
• Establish and maintain data lineage, reference data, and metadata practices.
• Monitor and guide teams on data management best practices across the organization.
• Facilitate data governance meetings and workshops to promote data stewardship and accountability.
• Maintain documentation related to data governance processes, data dictionaries, and metadata management.
• Support the implementation of data management tools and technologies to enhance governance capabilities.
• Work on SQL-based data profiling, validation, and data quality assessments.
• Support data visualization and reporting activities (Tableau preferred).
  
  

Required Skills & Competencies

• In-depth understanding of Data Governance frameworks (DAMA-DMBOK, EDM Council standards, etc.)
• Hands-on expertise with data cataloging and governance tools like Alation, Collibra, IGC, or Bigeye
• Strong command over SQL and Advanced SQL
• Solid understanding of metadata management, data lineage, and data quality principles
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills
• Ability to work in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities
  
  

Mandatory Skills For Screening

• Strong knowledge of Data Management and Data Governance frameworks, metadata, and quality management
• Hands-on experience with IGC, IA, Alation, Bigeye
• Data Catalog / Governance tools: Alation / Collibra
• Experience in Data Lineage and Reference Data practices
• Thorough understanding of SQL and Advanced SQL
  
  

Good to Have (Not Mandatory)

• Hands-on experience with IGC, IA, Alation, Bigeye
• Certifications: CDMP, DGSP, or other data governance certifications
• Scripting & Automation: Basic knowledge of Python or Shell scripting
• ETL/ELT knowledge
• Experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools
