About the Practice

The Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity team counsels clients on the full range of data-governance, information-handling, and cybersecurity issues that arise throughout the lifecycle of corporate and technology transactions. The group includes practitioners with prior government and regulatory experience and advises on privacy frameworks, product counseling, data-processing compliance, incident-response readiness, and the evolving legal landscape around AI, cloud infrastructure, fintech, and emerging technologies. The practice works closely with the firm’s corporate, M&A, capital markets, and technology transactions teams, offering attorneys the chance to partner with companies at the forefront of innovation.


The Opportunity

The firm is seeking an attorney to join its Data, Privacy & Cybersecurity practice in either its Austin or Palo Alto office. This role involves advising clients on privacy, data-use, and cybersecurity considerations in connection with mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, commercial contracts, and strategic technology transactions. Attorneys in this group support clients of all sizes, from emerging startups to public companies, on compliance, risk management, product development, and regulatory engagement. You’ll work directly with management teams, investors, and technical stakeholders while helping guide companies through fast-moving legal and operational challenges in technology-driven industries.


Qualifications

  • Background in M&A, capital markets, technology transactions, or related corporate/transactional work
  • Familiarity with privacy, data-protection, or cybersecurity frameworks
  • Strong drafting and communication abilities with a practical, solution-oriented mindset
  • Ability to work across multiple matters, deadlines, and stakeholder groups
  • CIPP certification is a plus
  • J.D. from an accredited institution and admission in the relevant jurisdiction
