Data Protection Specialist

Purpose:


Responsible for implementing and ensuring compliance with the relevant local data protection laws across all relevant jurisdictions.


Responsibilities:


  1. Assist in drafting and updating existing internal data protection policies and procedures based on regulatory requirements of all relevant jurisdictions, industry practices and established internal controls.
  2. Assist in the preparation of reports to relevant parties on a regular basis.
  3. Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and/or risk of not complying with the applicable data protection rules, and recommend corrective action plans for the resolution of problematic issues.
  4. Work with the Learning and Development function of the Corporate Human Resources department and others as appropriate to ensure effective implementation of the Data Protection annual training program, including appropriate introductory training for new hires and ongoing mandatory training for all employees and managers.
  5. Maintain records of all data processing activities carried out by the firm.
  6. Liaise with all internal stakeholders including the IT, Compliance and Legal departments.
  7. Keep abreast of new data protection regulations and communicate them to employees.
  8. Promote a culture of data protection compliance across the firm and provide support to all employees on data protection related matters.
  9. Ensure compliance in all applicable AML/CTF rules and regulations as required in the conduct of your role.
  10. Ensure timely completion of all relevant AML/CTF training provided by the Group.
  11. Ensure response to AML, CTF & sanctions inquiries in a timely manner.


Requirements:


  1. Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
  2. 3 - 5 years’ experience in Compliance or Risk Management, preferably in banking or financial institutions.
  3. Basic knowledge of the industry's local and regional data protection laws and regulations.
  4. Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  5. Excellent command of Arabic and English.
  6. Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
  7. Ability to identify and recommend solutions for problems.
  8. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  9. Ensures deliverables are always of a high quality.
