Job Title - Data Support Technician
Supervisor: Director of Technology, Assistant Director of Information and Instructional Technology
Job Goals:
- To provide support for system tasks related to the student information system and related programs, software and hardware.
- To support training related to the student information system and related programs.
- To efficiently identify and troubleshoot technical issues with the student information system and related programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in student information systems (SIS) or equivalent database experience.
- Excellent database knowledge and troubleshooting expertise.
- Knowledge of data validation and certification.
- Ability to work with multiple entities simultaneously to complete reports and tasks.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457.
- Knowledge of multiple computer operating systems and applications.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot database issues and related technology systems.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to relate complex technical concepts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; agility and dexterity needed to stoop, bend, lift/move equipment (computers and/or peripherals, etc.) when necessary and to perform technical equipment inspections and/or repairs, including the inspection of cabling in floors and ceilings.
- Ability and willingness to work after hours, weekends, or holidays when necessary.
- Ability to be punctual and in regular attendance.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate support for the school system and its vision, goals and priorities.
- Manage the student information system (SIS).
- Provide users with efficient, effective, courteous and timely technical support.
- Support school and district staff with completion of required reporting.
- Provide support for maintenance of clean data in the student information system.
- Lead the design, installation, testing, and implementation of solutions needed for access, applications, and security issues related to student information systems.
- Assist in completion of activities within the student information system related to student enrollment, pre-enrollment, transcripts, graduation coding in compliance with legal and/or administrative requirements.
- Coordinate and provide professional development related to the student information system and enrollment portals for school and district staff in collaboration with other district departments.
- Maintain security in relation to student information system roles and responsibilities.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters.
- Model and maintain high ethical standards.
- Demonstrate initiative in identifying opportunities for improvement in areas of responsibility.
- Participate successfully in training programs, professional development, or other learning to increase skill and proficiency related to job performance and leadership.
- Respond to inquiries and requests in a timely and positive manner.
- Maintain and submit required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and parts in good repair; efficiently uses time and system resources.
- Adhere to school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local laws.
- Report absences and take leave in accordance with Board policies and procedures.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).
Terms of Employment: As established by the Board and applicable state law.
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
