Job Description


We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Quality & Governance Analyst / Team lead who will support the execution of Data Trust & Integrity use cases within our organisation. The primary goal of this role is to work with our internal partners to execute Data Governance by Design and ensure data definitions and other data assets are curated agreed, owned and entered into the Enterprise Data Catalogue for everyone to access.

The role will require a coordinated cross functional approach, having to continually liaise and negotiate with engineering, business stakeholders/owners. The team are responsible for managing, consolidating, modelling, and cataloging business and technical Data Assets from multiple divisions and teams. You will also support the Data Use Case pipeline through Data Discovery and building/maintaining the necessary data assets/modules within the Data Catalog, and the ongoing Data Warehouse strategic deliveries of Medallion architecture. A high level of collaboration both within the Data Trust and Integrity function but also across the Group Data Office and the wider enterprise will be required.

The Data Governance Analyst executes a range of work-streams in delivering the design and implementation of the Data Governance Assets strategy, advancing the organisation's thinking of data governance concepts and understanding of the benefits of data governance, whilst improving Data Literacy. More specifically, supporting the Data Governance Assets Team across the following work-streams:

Main responsibilities:

  • Manage a small team of enthusiastic data governance and quality analysts
  • Manage a wide range of relationships with partners/stakeholders in and out of the data office; engineering, architecture and business data users
  • Identification and definition of critical data elements
  • Verification of data lineage and recommendation of authorised source
  • Definition of data quality business rules
  • Identification of potential data owners and data stewards
  • Collaboration with technical teams to deliver data quality reporting and alerting
  • Identification of KPIs to track progress of data improvements
  • Recommendation of appropriate data governance controls

Specialist skills and experience:

  • Strong experience implementing data governance and quality in diverse data environments
  • Strong experience of data cleansing and enrichment efforts to rectify data quality issues
  • Demonstrable experience delivering data profiling and data quality reporting
  • Demonstrable experience of data quality and profiling tools (like SQL, Ataccama, Informatica, Tableau Prep)
  • Demonstrable experience with data visualisation tools to create dashboards and reports like Power BI and Tableau
  • Experience using data management tools and frameworks such as, Precisely, Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica Data Governance and DCAM
  • Strong understanding of data governance and quality principles, practices, and methodologies
  • Experience with data governance and quality policies, frameworks, processes, and controls
  • Understanding of Master Data Management and Reference Data Management principles, practices, and methodologies
  • Demonstrable experience of business and technical stakeholder management

Qualifications
  • Team leading experience
  • Experience in global, scale B2C on-line and retail business/es
  • Experience of working closely with Data Engineers
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data management, or a related field
  • Professional certification in data governance or related fields is a plus
  • Experience of agile project management and using JIRA
