Data Visualization & Analysis Intern

We are looking for a detail-oriented and technically capable intern to support our analytics team in building Power BI dashboards that give business leaders clear, actionable visibility into operations. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and stakeholder communication — you will spend time understanding what leaders need to see, then build the infrastructure to show them. This is a paid, limited time opportunity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Partner with branch managers, operations leaders, and department heads across HVAC and plumbing to understand their reporting needs and key performance questions.

• Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards that surface operational metrics including job performance, technician productivity, revenue trends, and branch-level comparisons.

• Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, transform, and model data from our core systems, including ServiceTitan (field service management) and Databricks (cloud data platform).

• Translate raw data into clean, intuitive visualizations that non-technical users can navigate confidently.

• Document data definitions, metric logic, and dashboard usage to support ongoing maintenance and adoption.

• Participate in sprint reviews and stakeholder demos — communicate what you built and why.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. Juniors and Seniors are encouraged to apply.

• Hands-on experience with Power BI — ability to build reports, write DAX measures, and design for usability.

• Proficiency in SQL — comfortable writing joins, aggregations, CTEs, and filtering logic against real datasets.

• Strong communication skills — able to ask the right questions of stakeholders and translate business needs into data requirements.

• Organized and self-directed; able to manage multiple dashboard requests in parallel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with cloud data platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, or similar).

• Familiarity with field service, home services, or operations-heavy business data.

• Exposure to data modeling concepts (star schema, fact/dimension tables).

• Experience with Python or PySpark for data transformation (a plus, not required).

• Familiarity with Git for version control — ability to commit, branch, and collaborate in a shared repository.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

By the end of the internship, you will have:

• Delivered 3–5 production-ready Power BI dashboards actively used by Goettl business leaders.

• Built or contributed to underlying SQL data models that feed those dashboards.

• Earned credibility as a reliable analyst who listens well, builds fast, and communicates clearly.
