About the Position
Are you ready to flex your design skills to promote data literacy and improve the health of the community within Maricopa County? As a Data Visualization Epidemiologist Associate, you will analyze data to produce accessible reports, dashboards, presentations, and more. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with teams across Public Health to help people access and understand health-related data.
This is a contract position with full benefits and an expected end date of November 30, 2027.

We Require
- Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related public health field
- An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
- Experience using visualization and analytical software such as Power BI and ArcGIS
- Experience using programming languages such as SQL, R, and SAS
- Experience in informatics or graphic design
- Experience implementing web accessibility solutions
Job Contributions
- Supports the production of data visualization products using best practices, including tailoring communications to resonate with target audiences
- Analyzes and interprets public health data
- Works with internal partners to develop data visualization capacity
- Conducts QA/QC on datasets and visual products
- Documents protocols and practices for visualizing public health data
- Other duties as assigned, including responding to public health emergencies
Working Conditions
- Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
- Ability to exert up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
- Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
