About the Position
Are you ready to flex your design skills to promote data literacy and improve the health of the community within Maricopa County? As a Data Visualization Epidemiologist Associate, you will analyze data to produce accessible reports, dashboards, presentations, and more. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with teams across Public Health to help people access and understand health-related data.
This is a contract position with full benefits and an expected end date of November 30, 2027.

We Require
Master’s degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related public health field
An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis
We Also Value
Experience using visualization and analytical software such as Power BI and ArcGIS
Experience using programming languages such as SQL, R, and SAS
Experience in informatics or graphic design
Experience implementing web accessibility solutions
Job Contributions
Supports the production of data visualization products using best practices, including tailoring communications to resonate with target audiences
Analyzes and interprets public health data
Works with internal partners to develop data visualization capacity
Conducts QA/QC on datasets and visual products
Documents protocols and practices for visualizing public health data
Other duties as assigned, including responding to public health emergencies
Working Conditions
Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
Ability to exert up to 10 lbs. occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time
Within one month of hire, all employees will be required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test
