Database Administrator

We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (3+ years) skilled in managing and optimizing PostgreSQL and MySQL databases. The role involves designing HA/DR solutions, implementing PITR-based backups, and ensuring database reliability. Strong expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and production support is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL and MySQL database solutions with a strong focus on High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR).
• Develop and manage backup and recovery strategies, including PITR, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.
• Analyze and optimize performance for OLTP and OLAP workloads, including query tuning, schema design, and indexing strategies.
• Manage and troubleshoot replication setups, lag issues, and failover configurations (e.g., streaming replication, Group Replication, Patroni, etc.).
• Monitor database systems proactively, manage capacity planning, and ensure database uptime and reliability.
• Automate routine maintenance tasks using Bash, Python, or equivalent scripting languages.
• Work closely with application and infrastructure teams to support business requirements and deployments.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Deep understanding of PostgreSQL and MySQL internals, including configuration, query planner, and storage engines.
• Strong understanding of Linux operating systems, with the ability to troubleshoot at OS level when required.
• Exposure to monitoring tools such as AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Prometheus, or Grafana.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure including managed database services (e.g., RDS, Aurora, Cloud SQL).
• Understanding of security best practices, including encryption at rest and in transit, and SSL/TLS configuration for database access.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in PostgreSQL and MySQL administration.
• Solid understanding of Linux-based systems and command-line tools.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
