DESCRIPTION

Finance Technology is currently looking for a talented Database Engineer for its Hyderabad office. The Database Engineer will engineer solutions for multiple database technologies, and will be responsible for fast-paced, complex distributed database environments supporting both OLTP and OLAP systems across multiple platforms. A strong candidate will be able to rapidly troubleshoot complex technical problems under pressure, implement solutions that are massively scalable, while managing multiple customer groups. Deep knowledge of Oracle Database concepts , strong administration experience, and excellent interpersonal communication skills are required. They bring business context to decisions made in and across groups They take the lead on the design, implementation, and successful delivery of large-scale, significantly complex, or critical database solutions with a long-term impact on a product, technology or architecture. They lead by example and drive best practices in organization and in the larger engineering communities.

Key job responsibilities
  • Ownership of Oracle EBS, Oracle RAC clusters, working on a variety of development and maintenance projects in coordination with project and support teams.
  • Knowledge of all supporting infrastructure components, including operating systems, hardware/storage configurations and networks.
  • Excellent UNIX skills and a grasp of fundamental computing concepts such as system calls, memory management and program debugging.
  • Experience in system administration of LINUX, configuring storage arrays networks, disk configuration including multipath, knowledge of networking components such as Infiniband is highly desirable.
  • Analyze and tune database performance for high-volume, mission-critical applications
  • Design and implement robust high availability solutions (e.g., EBS Applications, Oracle RAC, Data Guard)
  • Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls and encryption with industry standards and regulations
  • Design and implement scalable solutions to accommodate increasing data volumes and user loads
  • Develop and maintain scripts for routine database administration tasks
  • Rapidly diagnose and resolve complex technical issues in high-pressure situations
  • Identify and implement best practices for database administration and engineering

About the team
The FinTech Infrastructure team oversees financial ecosystem that powers Amazon's global financial operations. We're seeking expert DBEs to manage our mission-critical Oracle RAC environments that process over $750B in annual transactions. Our portfolio includes enterprise-scale Oracle instances supporting OFA, Hyperion, and various financial applications, plus 105+ Postgres and MS SQL Server instances powering crucial FinAuto services. If you're passionate about optimizing high-performance databases, managing multi-datacenter infrastructure, and solving complex scalability challenges for one of the world's largest financial operations

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
  • Experience architecting infrastructure solutions using both Linux/Unix and Windows with specific recommendations on server, load balancing, HA/DR, & storage architectures
  • Experience in managing and troublshooting network, or experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems and experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • Experience with mission-critical, 24x7 operations
  • 4+ years of database administration experience
  • Experience in Oracle DB, or experience in networking administration and troubleshooting and experience in any Bigdata architecture
  • Experience in managing or implementing system health, performance monitoring, capacity planning, or process improvement and automation
  • Knowledge of SQL, Perl, Unix/Linux, Visual Basic or other programming languages
  • 10+ years of working with very large data warehousing environment experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience leading and influencing your team or organization, or experience managing teams
  • Experience leading and influencing the data strategy of your team or organization
  • Experience leading large enterprise transformations with AWS/cloud services
  • Experience in mentoring junior finance or business team members
