Database Solutions Architect

Job Title: Solutions Architect/Principal SQL Developer
Location: Washington DC (Onsite)
Contract: 10 Months (Probability of Extension)

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Architecture & Design: Lead the design and implementation of scalable database architectures (relational and potentially NoSQL). Ensure data integrity and consistency through effective schema, tables, views, and indexing strategies.
• Performance Optimization: Serve as the expert in performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries, stored procedures, and database configurations in high-volume environments using advanced tools (e.g., SQL Server Profiler).
• ETL and Data Pipelines: Architect, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT processes and data pipelines for efficient data migration, transformation, and integration.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical guidance, perform code reviews, and mentor junior and mid-level developers on SQL development and data modeling best practices.
• Collaboration & Strategy: Collaborate with senior management, data scientists, application developers, and business analysts to align database strategy with organizational goals and influence the overall technology roadmap.
• Data Governance & Security: Implement database security measures, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
• Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Proactively monitor and troubleshoot complex database issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Documentation & Standards: Promote comprehensive documentation for database architectures, processes, and operational procedures.

Certification:
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate

Required Skills & Experience:

• 6-10 years leading advanced technology projects or service projects
• 6-10 years full system engineering lifecycle experience
• 6-10 years creating implementation/integration plans, test plans, and training materials
• 8+ years delivering high-quality, complex technology solutions in commercial and government sectors
• Extensive experience with SQL, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, and Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Python, DAX
• In-depth knowledge of healthcare management systems and experience working with senior executives
• Expertise in major DBMS platforms (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and advanced T-SQL/PL-SQL
• Proficient in data modeling (dimensional, star/snowflake schemas), ETL tools (e.g., SSIS, Informatica), and cloud-based data platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL)
• Strong understanding of database architecture principles, high availability solutions, and capacity planning
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's preferred)
• Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Azure Database Administrator Associate), Big Data technologies (Spark, Hadoop), and DevOps highly desired.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $90.00 - $95.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
