Job Summary
The Data Center Specialist is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and support of data center infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and security of systems. This role involves hands-on management of servers, networking equipment, storage systems, and environmental controls within the data center.
Key Responsibilities

Install, configure, and maintain servers, storage systems, and network equipment

Monitor data center operations to ensure uptime, performance, and reliability

Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and hardware replacements

Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, network, and system issues

Manage cabling, rack layouts, power distribution, and cooling systems

Monitor environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, power usage)

Ensure compliance with security policies and access controls
-
Support backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes

Document procedures, configurations, and incident reports

Coordinate with IT teams, vendors, and service providers
Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)

Experience working in a data center or similar IT infrastructure environment

Strong knowledge of:

Servers (Windows/Linux)

Networking (TCP/IP, switches, routers)

Storage systems (SAN/NAS)

Power and cooling infrastructure

Ability to troubleshoot hardware and system-level issues

Familiarity with monitoring tools and ticketing systems

Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications

Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Network+, CCNA, ITIL)

Knowledge of cloud integration or hybrid data centers

Understanding of data center standards and best practices (TIA-942, ISO 27001)
