Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Daycare Lead Teacher to join our childcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children, fostering their development through engaging activities and personalized care. Responsibilities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans that align with the center's curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices
- Maintain a structured and organized classroom environment.
- Manage transitions and activities effectively.
- Address children's upsets and emergency situations calmly and appropriately.
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all children in your care at all times
- Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues to create a welcoming environment
- Monitor and document each child's progress, behavior, and needs to inform ongoing care plans
- Provide a nurturing and stimulating environment that encourages creativity, problem-solving, and respect for oneself and others.
- Assist with daily routines such as meal times, nap times, and hygiene practices
- Maintain a clean and organised classroom environment in accordance with health and safety standards
- Support children's individual interests and needs through personalised attention and activities
- Promote inclusive play and encourage children to develop social skills
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child's progress and well-being
- Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and parents to create a supportive and positive learning environment
- Provide ongoing communication, photos, and videos on the school app
- Ensure compliance with all licensing requirements and standards set by the Virginia Department of Education
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required
Experience
- Previous experience working as a teacher with young children in a childcare setting with relevant training or qualifications required
- Strong understanding of child development principles and early childhood education practices
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, and team members
- Ability to organise activities that are both educational and fun, fostering curiosity and learning
- Patience, creativity, and a caring attitude are essential qualities for success in this role
