The Kitchen Assistant/Breaker plays a key role in the Kids & Company team by assisting with the day-to-day operations of food preparation and cooking in the kitchen. Breakers are responsible for covering breaks, maintaining staff ratios, and stepping in wherever needed, as directed by the Center Director, while adhering to Kids & Company standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
KITCHEN ASSISTANT:

Prepare and serve morning snacks as required.

Perform daily tasks such as cutting fruits, portioning meals, and delivering food to classrooms.

Pick up cooked food from the nearby East Mountain location as scheduled.
-
Ensure proper storage of all food, including hot-holding in the oven and cold-holding in the refrigerator.

Maintain and record accurate daily temperature logs for the refrigerator, freezer, sanitizer, and food.
-
Ensure children with food allergies receive proper food substitutions.

Label and date all food items that are not in their original packaging.

Serve all food following the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.

Strictly follow health and safety regulations and company best practices.

Wash and sanitize all dishware collected from classrooms.

Maintain the kitchen’s cleaning schedule, including daily, weekly, and monthly tasks

Perform other assigned duties to support kitchen and classroom operations.
BREAKER
-
Provide nurturing care to young children in a group setting.
-
Cover breaks for classroom lead teachers.
-
Assist in the implementation of enriched programs aligned with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practices, and program philosophy.

Collaborate with the team in the classroom to ensure excellent supervision and interaction with children at all times, including in classrooms, sleep rooms, and during outdoor activities.

Help children learn and grow through our personalized curriculum.

Assist children in various activities.

Be adaptable to changes in duties and responsibilities based on the needs of the childcare centers.
What you need
-
1 - 2 years of Kitchen Assistant and teacher-related experience
-
High School diploma/GED equivalency required
-
Current Food Handler Certification or willing to get
-
Experience in a daycare environment would be an asset.
-
Valid driver's license and a clean driver’s abstract.
-
Excellent communication skills.
-
Require a clean criminal record check
-
Ability to push, pull, and lift to 45 pounds
