This role supports the operation and maintenance of mission-critical electrical and mechanical systems within Switch data centers. You assist with preventive maintenance, vendor coordination, and facility inspections while developing the skills required to respond to infrastructure alarms. The role follows established procedures and operates in a 24/7/365 environment.
Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities for critical power and cooling systems.
Assist vendors and contractors during maintenance, repairs, and expansion projects.
Complete work orders accurately and on time within the CMMS.
Inspect buildings, equipment, and grounds for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions and report findings.
Follow Switch safety policies and procedures at all times.
Train toward first responder responsibilities for infrastructure alarms.
Participate in assigned meetings, training sessions, and technical development activities.
Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
Foundational understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
Ability to follow procedures and work safely around critical infrastructure.
Strong attention to detail and task follow-through.
Clear communication with technicians, vendors, and supervisors.
Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
2 or more years of experience in facilities, mechanical, electrical, or related technical environments.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Technical trade school training in mechanical, electrical, or electronics preferred.
Basic knowledge of systems such as generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS or STS units, PDUs, CRAC units, pumps, and fire suppression systems.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and perform physical tasks including climbing ladders and working near live electrical and mechanical equipment.
Willingness to obtain OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, First Aid or CPR, and other required site certifications within designated timeframes.
