Dealer Inventory Management Analyst

Job Summary:

Our client in Auburn Hills, MI is looking for a Dealer Inventory Management Analyst. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do:

We are seeking a Dealer Advisor and Systems Analyst to join our ARO Parts & Service team. This role is uniquely positioned at the intersection of business operations and information technology, supporting dealers who utilize our Retail Inventory Management (RIM) applications. The successful candidate will combine strong communication and analytical skills with a solid technical foundation to ensure smooth operation of dealer parts replenishment and integration processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for dealership personnel regarding our Retail Inventory Management (RIM) applications.
  • Support dealers in understanding and optimizing automated parts replenishment processes based on sales demand and inventory parameters.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot daily data transmissions from dealership DMS (Dealer Management Systems) to corporate systems.
  • Review, interpret, and validate inbound and outbound data files, including sales, inventory, and order data.
  • Utilize SQL queries to investigate data issues and verify system accuracy.
  • Work within Unix environments to access, review, and troubleshoot dealer data files as needed.
  • Use MQ file transmission tools to ensure successful data flow between dealer systems and corporate servers.
  • Collaborate with IT, field personnel, and third-party DMS providers to resolve system or communication issues.
  • Identify trends or recurring issues and recommend process or system improvements.
  • Provide user education and guidance on system functionality and data best practices.

Basics:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field — or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in dealership operations, automotive parts management, or related corporate support role.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying and troubleshooting data.
  • Experience navigating and reviewing files within a Unix environment.
  • Working knowledge of MQ or similar message/file transmission systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and troubleshoot data files and transmission logs in a complex systems environment.
  • Proven ability to bridge business and technical teams effectively.
  • Strong fundamentals with databases, SQL, data mining, and basic programming background.
  • Ability to communicate clearly between Business teams, Technical teams, and Dealers (role is a mix of IT, business, and customer facing).
  • Understanding of Parts management. Includes parts inventory, sales, and stocking policy experience (automotive preferred).
  • Hybrid position. Expected to be at least 3 days at the office.
  • No driving of a vehicle required.
  • Some travelling might be required.

Preferred:

  • Experience with dealership management systems (Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK, Dealertrack, etc.).
  • Familiarity with automotive parts replenishment or inventory control systems (RIM, D2DLink, etc.).
  • Background in IT systems support, data integration, or business systems analysis.
  • Understanding of EDI, flat file processing, or API data exchange.
