Decarbonization and Sustainability Environmental Specialist - Relocate to Saudi Arabia

Key Responsibilities

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that facility operations and business objectives align with Saudi Aramco's environmental protection policies, as well as relevant environmental policies, GIs, and standards.

  • Identifying deviations and developing solutions to address environmental issues, ensuring the mitigation of environmental risks and improving compliance with both company and governmental environmental regulations.

  • Conducting comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) and environmental assessments and providing recommendations for improvements.

  • Developing, reviewing, and implementing GHG management strategies.

  • Conducting internal GHG assessments for facilities such as refineries, NGL fractionation plants, petrochemical plants, and lube manufacturing plants.

  • Overseeing solid and chemical waste disposal to ensure environmental protection and compliance with governmental regulations.

  • Monitoring air quality, wastewater treatment, water conservation, and waste management performance.

  • Developing, reviewing, and deploying the facility's environmental management system in alignment with ISO 14001 standards.

  • Developing and maintaining environmental procedures and guidelines.

  • Conducting internal environmental performance benchmarking studies within the oil and gas and refinery sectors.

  • Keeping up to date with international and regional regulations on emissions, waste management, water and wastewater treatment, and GHG to ensure compliance.

  • Collaborating with stakeholders such as field engineers, senior executives, and regulatory bodies to ensure alignment with industry standards and needs.

  • Analyzing complex data sets related to emissions, equipment efficiency, and other relevant parameters to derive actionable insights for performance enhancement.

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate should possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering.

  • At least 17 years of experience in oil and gas refineries or petrochemical industries. EPI/QEP certification is preferred.

  • Knowledge of the oil and gas refining industry's environmental challenges and risks.

  • Familiarity with global and governmental environmental policies, regulations, and standards.

  • Expertise in technical sustainability data, calculation methodologies, and their limitations.

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in environmental engineering.

  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and its requirements.

  • Experience in developing decarbonization roadmaps, GHG emission baselines, and target-setting strategies.
