Declarant Assistant

At Maersk, we’re on a journey to connect and simplify supply chains across the world. As our operations continue to grow, we’re looking for a motivated Declarant Assistant to join our Customs team and help ensure a smooth and compliant flow of goods across borders.

What you will be doing

As a Declarant Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting customs clearance activities and ensuring our customers’ shipments move efficiently and compliantly. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and submitting customs documentation for import and export shipments
  • Supporting the team in handling customs queries and resolving issues
  • Conducting research on tariffs, trade agreements, and regulatory requirements
  • Collaborating closely with logistics teams, customer service, and other internal stakeholders
  • Maintaining accurate and compliant records for all customs transactions
  • Participating in training and development to strengthen your knowledge of customs processes and industry best practices

Who we are looking for

You might be starting your career in customs or logistics - or looking to take the next step. What matters most is your motivation to learn, your attention to detail, and your ability to work in a structured and collaborative way.

Required:

  • An associate degree or equivalent experience within logistics, supply chain, or a related field
  • Basic understanding of customs processes and import/export regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Clear and effective communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred (nice to have):

  • Experience in a logistics or customs environment
  • Knowledge of customs software and compliance tools
  • Familiarity with international trade documentation and regulations

Technical skills that will help you succeed

  • Basic understanding of HS codes and tariff classification
  • Experience with brokerage software or electronic filing systems
  • Ability to work with data and reporting tools
