Job Summary
The Driver is responsible for the safe and timely delivery of HVAC materials, equipment, and prefabricated components to new residential home construction sites. This role supports the company’s HVAC installation operations by ensuring accurate and efficient transportation of goods, maintaining vehicle condition, and adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
Duties
· Transport HVAC components, such as ductwork, piping, and units, from the fabrication shop to residential job sites according to assigned delivery schedules.
· Load and unload vehicles, ensuring proper securing of materials to prevent damage during transit.
· Verify delivery contents against manifests or work orders to ensure accuracy and report any discrepancies to the Driving Supervisor.
· Follow optimized delivery routes using GPS or navigation tools to meet project deadlines and minimize fuel consumption.
· Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, reporting maintenance issues or safety concerns to the Driving Supervisor promptly.
· Adhere to all traffic laws, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and company safety policies while operating vehicles.
· Maintain accurate delivery logs, including mileage, fuel usage, and delivery confirmations, for record-keeping purposes.
· Communicate effectively with the shop team, site supervisors, and the Driving Supervisor to coordinate deliveries and address on-site issues.
· Handle materials with care to ensure they arrive in good condition, ready for installation.
· Participate in safety training and maintain awareness of best practices for transporting HVAC equipment.
Essential Skills Required (Not Limited to)
· Strong driving skills with a focus on safety and adherence to traffic regulations.
· Basic knowledge of HVAC materials and handling requirements to ensure safe transport.
· Ability to read and follow delivery schedules, manifests, and navigation tools (e.g., GPS).
· Physical stamina to load, unload, and secure materials, including lifting up to 75 lbs.
· Attention to detail to verify delivery contents and maintain accurate records.
· Effective communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, shop staff, and site personnel.
· Commitment to workplace safety and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling materials.
· Time-management skills to meet delivery deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
· 1-2 years of experience as a delivery driver, preferably in construction, HVAC, or a related industry.
· Valid Nevada driver’s license required
· Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no major violations or accidents.
· Pass the medical exam for the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
· Familiarity with residential construction sites or HVAC material delivery is a plus.
· OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Training is mandatory.
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred; on-the-job training will be provided.
