Location: Traverse City, MI

Salary: $58,908 – $76,961 annually (based on certification)

What You’ll Do

• Respond to fire, rescue, and emergency medical calls
• Deliver critical pre-hospital medical care
• Operate and maintain fire apparatus and equipment
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development
• Engage with the community through prevention and education efforts

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Firefighter II certification (or equivalent)
• EMT-B license or higher
• Valid driver’s license

Candidates who are currently enrolled in a Fire Academy, EMT, or Paramedic program and are able to obtain certification or licensure within 90 days are also eligible to apply and test.

Firefighter/EMTs must obtain Paramedic licensure within three years of hire.

Hiring Process

• Physical agility test
• Written exam (National Firefighter Selection Inventory)
• Oral board interview
• Background check, medical exam, and psychological evaluation

Residency Requirement

Employees must reside within 30 miles of Traverse City within 12 months of hire.
