Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the dental practice's daily operations. This position requires proficiency in various dental procedures, strong communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for patients.
Duties
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring adherence to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, ensuring accuracy in medical documentation and coding.
- Conduct preliminary assessments by taking vital signs and gathering medical history from patients.
- Provide chairside assistance during various dental procedures, including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment, placing orders as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical imaging techniques is essential.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices is a plus.
- Ability to perform medical coding and maintain accurate medical records is beneficial.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing patient documentation and appointments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
