Dental Assistant

Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring a sterile environment through proper aseptic technique and infection control protocols
  • Assist dentists during various procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontic treatments, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry cases
  • Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans while maintaining patient safety and comfort
  • Manage patient records using PMS (Patient Management Software) systems like Dentrix Ascend or Eaglesoft; ensure accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes
  • Provide chairside assistance by handling dental terminology accurately and supporting four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency
  • Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and hygiene practices to promote oral health
  • Maintain infection control standards by adhering to HIPAA regulations and proper sterilization procedures

Requirements

  • Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures
  • Proficiency with PMS systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and accurately while following aseptic techniques
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and medical coding practices
  • Experience assisting with pediatric dentistry cases and understanding of pediatric-specific needs
  • Familiarity with medical documentation, medical records management, and medical imaging technology including 3D scanners
  • Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist when coordinating patient flow and scheduling appointments
  • Certification in infection control practices; knowledge of dental assisting best practices including vital signs monitoring and chairside assisting techniques
