- Clinical Assistance: Prepare patients for treatment, assist during restorative and surgical procedures, and apply dental sealants.
- Patient Management: Calm anxious children, guide them through procedures, and create a child-friendly, safe environment.
- Radiology and Diagnostics: Take, develop, and process dental X-rays.
- Preventive Education: Teach children proper brushing/flossing techniques and educate parents on oral hygiene and preventive care.
- Sterilization and Maintenance: Sterilize instruments, maintain clean treatment rooms, and manage dental supply inventory.
- Administrative Tasks: Document patient records, schedule appointments, and manage patient flow.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Completion of a dental assistant program from a vocational school or community college.
- Certifications: Dental Assistant certification, CPR, and Basic Life Support (BLS) training.
- Skills: Strong communication, patience, empathy, and ability to work well with children of all ages.
- Knowledge: Understanding of child behavior management, dental materials, and pediatric oral anatomy.
