Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care while assisting the dentist in various procedures. The Dental Assistant will contribute to a positive patient experience in general settings.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures, including chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring compliance with infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) while adhering to safety standards.
- Manage patient records, including medical documentation and medical records management, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Utilize dental software systems such as Dentrix for scheduling appointments, managing patient information, and documenting treatment plans.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Conduct preliminary assessments by taking vital signs and gathering medical history to assist in treatment planning.
- Assist with the administration of local anesthesia under the supervision of the dentist when necessary.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and infection control practices is essential.
- Proficiency in using Dentrix.
- Strong understanding of general dentistry procedures.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Certification in CPR or BLS is preferred; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
