Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly in accordance with aseptic techniques.
  • Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing chairside support with precision and care.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray images) while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) system, we use Dentrix Ascend, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and medical coding.
  • Measure vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse to monitor patient health before procedures.
  • Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and answer their questions with clarity and professionalism.
  • Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and maintaining organized medical documentation.
  • Follow infection control protocols diligently to prevent cross-contamination and maintain a safe clinical environment.
  • Assist with advanced imaging procedures using 3D scanners or other medical imaging devices to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team to ensure efficient workflow during four-handed dentistry sessions, promoting a smooth patient experience.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments.
  • Proficiency with dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and managing dental terminology is essential.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix enhances efficiency in managing patient records.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, anatomy related to dentistry, and HIPAA compliance is required to ensure safety standards are met.
  • Experience with medical documentation, medical coding related to dental procedures, and understanding of pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
  • Certification in X-ray technology or radiography is often required or preferred; ongoing training in new imaging technologies such as 3D scanners is a plus.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
