Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up dental materials for various procedures.
- Assist dentists chairside during exams, cleanings, restorations, extractions, and other dental treatments with precision and confidence.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced equipment such as 3D scanners and medical imaging tools while adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic to ensure accurate medical documentation and coding.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, answering questions about dental terminology, and ensuring comfort throughout visits.
- Maintain infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization practices in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and updating medical records.
- Assist with specialized treatments including prosthodontics, endodontics, or pediatric dentistry as needed to enhance patient outcomes.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical documentation when necessary to ensure patient safety during procedures.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking X-rays, and infection control practices.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Ability to perform medical imaging tasks accurately using 3D scanners or other advanced equipment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
- Experience supporting pediatric dentistry procedures is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and hygienists.
- Certification in X-ray techniques or radiography is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain necessary licensing if required by state law.
