Job description


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all chairside procedures efficiently using four-handed delivery techniques.
  • Efficiently and effectively perform all duties within scope of practice.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of dental instruments and proper tray setups.
  • Properly take all prescribed radiographs.
  • Take blood pressure and fill out appropriate paperwork when needed.
  • Maintain current dental assistant license, CPR certification, and take all required continuing education.
  • Understand and demonstrate proper sterilization, biohazard and infection control procedures in compliance with protocol.
  • Maintain required paperwork/logs for radiation/ infection control/ and sterilization
  • Demonstrate complete knowledge of dental terminology.
  • Monitor Nitrous Oxide analgesia (as appropriate)
  • Perform all necessary lab procedures within the Licensed Dental Assistant scope of practice.
  • Stock and maintaining treatment areas/room and dental related inventory.
  • Demonstrate cost effective techniques when utilizing supplies and equipment.
  • Monitor materials for expiration dates. Properly maintain all dental equipment and instruments.
  • Patient/staff rapport – communicate effectively and in a respectful manner with coworkers and patients.
  • Make appointments for patients and give appropriate specialty referrals as needed.
  • Write charting notes following proper protocol.
  • Assist with sending prior authorizations, answering dental phone calls, confirm and/or cancel appointments and check patients in as needed.
  • Efficiently direct patient flow through teamwork and communication.
  • Appropriately follow leadership of dental director and dental manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Familiar with Dental tools and terminology
  • Detail-oriented personality
  • Strong communication skills


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current BLS Certification
  • Current licensure as a Dental Assistant in the State of Minnesota
  • Associated Degree Preferred
  • 3+ years as Dental Assistant or related field experience
  • Requires flexibility: Working and traveling between two locations
