Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, supplies, and sterilized equipment, adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric treatments using chairside assisting techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging, ensuring proper positioning and safety measures are followed.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining HIPAA compliance for patient confidentiality.
- Provide excellent patient care by explaining procedures, taking vital signs, and addressing patient questions or concerns with professionalism.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing medical records efficiently.
- Ensure the dental clinic maintains a sterile environment through aseptic techniques and proper infection control practices.
- Assist with the use of advanced technology including 3D scanners and dental software like Epic for medical documentation.
- Collaborate seamlessly with the team in four-handed dentistry setups to optimize workflow and patient comfort.
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and procedures across general dentistry disciplines including prosthodontics and endodontics.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is required; familiarity with dental assisting duties is essential.
- Proficiency in using EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques is mandatory.
- Experience with medical coding, medical terminology, and managing medical records enhances your candidacy.
- Hands-on experience with dental X-ray procedures, digital imaging technology including 3D scanners, and pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of dental anatomy and general dentistry procedures is necessary to support comprehensive patient care.
- Certification in dental assisting or related fields is preferred; ongoing training in Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus.
