Responsibilities
Assist dentists during a wide range of dental procedures, including pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. Prepare treatment rooms with sterilized instruments and materials, maintaining strict infection control and aseptic techniques. Take and develop X-ray images using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and traditional radiography tools, ensuring patient safety and comfort. Provide chairside assistance by managing dental terminology, medical documentation, and vital signs to support efficient patient flow. Manage electronic health records using EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Support administrative duties such as scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist and maintaining accurate medical records and medical coding. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and answer their questions with professionalism and empathy.
Requirements
Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred, especially with general dentistry or pediatric dentistry environments. Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control protocols, and aseptic technique. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dental procedures. Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and digital imaging systems like Epic or Dentrix. Familiarity with EMR systems (Electronic Medical Records) such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix to document patient information accurately. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and security of patient data. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and other healthcare professionals.
