Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists during various procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, with precision and efficiency.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic to ensure accurate medical documentation and coding.
- Monitor vital signs and medical history to support comprehensive patient care, especially in pediatric dentistry cases.
- Provide excellent customer service as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and guiding patients through their visit process.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control standards and OSHA regulations.
- Support the team with medical imaging procedures and assist with complex treatments involving endodontics or prosthodontics as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in using dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for scheduling, records management, and billing.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures.
- Ability to operate X-ray machines safely while following HIPAA guidelines for patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with children is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical coding and documentation related to dental procedures is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists, hygienists, and specialists.
- Certification in CPR or basic life support (BLS) is preferred; ongoing training in dental assisting or related fields is encouraged.
