Responsibilities
Assist dentists with a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring each step is performed with precision and care. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and setting up necessary supplies using aseptic techniques. Take and develop X-ray images while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety protocols. Manage patient records accurately within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic, documenting medical history, vital signs, and dental procedures thoroughly. Support patients by explaining procedures, scheduling appointments with the dental receptionist, and addressing their concerns professionally. Maintain infection control standards by following strict sterilization procedures and ensuring all equipment meets safety guidelines. Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry to enhance efficiency and patient comfort during chairside assisting.
Qualifications
Previous experience working in a dental clinic environment is highly preferred, especially in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry settings. Proficiency with dental terminology, medical documentation, and medical coding is essential for accurate record-keeping. Knowledge of dental imaging techniques including 3D scanners and X-ray technology is required. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic will facilitate seamless workflow management. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, anatomy knowledge related to oral structures, and dental assisting procedures are critical for success. Certification in radiography or X-ray training is a plus. Excellent communication skills combined with a positive attitude will help foster a welcoming atmosphere for patients of all ages.
