Duties

  • Assist dentists chairside during general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures with precision and confidence.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for each appointment.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and X-ray machines, adhering to proper safety protocols.
  • Manage patient records efficiently using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Support patient intake by reviewing medical histories, recording vital signs, and explaining procedures clearly to foster comfort and trust.
  • Maintain strict infection control standards through aseptic techniques and proper sterilization procedures to safeguard patient health.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the dental team in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance efficiency and provide top-tier care.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and coordinating with the dental receptionist to optimize clinic flow.

Skills

  • Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, taking vital signs, and medical imaging.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques essential for safe clinical operations.
  • Experience with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; familiarity with Epic or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient safety standards.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical records and medical coding for accurate documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain procedures clearly to pediatric patients and their families; experience in pediatric dentistry is advantageous.
