Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment areas with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for use.
- Assist dentists during various procedures, including restorations, extractions, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper technique and patient safety in accordance with infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide chairside assistance by managing dental terminology, medical documentation, and medical coding for procedures performed.
- Monitor vital signs of patients when required, especially during pediatric or medically complex cases.
- Support the dental reception area by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently.
Skills
- Proficiency with Dentrix, to document medical records accurately.
- Strong knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques to ensure a sterile environment.
- Experience with dental imaging technology including X-ray machines and 3D scanners for precise diagnostics.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical documentation standards relevant to dental care.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting with four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
