Dental Assistant

Duties

  • Assist dentists with a variety of procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring efficient chairside support.
  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for patient appointments.
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging), ensuring proper technique and patient comfort while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
  • Manage medical documentation and records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, accurately recording treatment details and patient information.
  • Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures, especially in pediatric dentistry cases.
  • Maintain infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and knowledge of anatomy to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Support administrative tasks such as greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, and managing medical coding for billing purposes.
  • Operate advanced dental technology including 3D scanners and other medical imaging devices to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Uphold HIPAA compliance by safeguarding patient information and ensuring confidentiality at all times.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
  • Experience with chairside assisting in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics environments.
  • Skilled in taking X-ray images with attention to safety protocols for both patients and staff.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices including aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile clinical environment.
  • Ability to perform vital signs assessments and assist with medical imaging procedures confidently.
  • Familiarity with dental assisting best practices such as four-handed dentistry for improved efficiency during procedures.
  • Experience working with medical records management systems like Epic or similar platforms is a plus.

Pay: $25.75 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30.0 – 35.0 per week
