Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for procedures.
  • Assist dentists during various treatments including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, utilizing chairside assisting techniques.
  • Take and develop X-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans while maintaining strict adherence to infection control and aseptic techniques.
  • Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, vital signs, and treatment notes.
  • Support the dental reception area by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality and ensure secure handling of medical documentation.
  • Assist with infection control protocols and sterilization procedures to uphold the highest standards of safety within the dental clinic environment.
  • Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to medical coding, medical records management, and updating dental terminology in clinical systems.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare setting is preferred; familiarity with dental assisting duties is essential.
  • Proficiency in using dental software such as Epic, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft for scheduling, documentation, and billing purposes.
  • Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry along with understanding of medical terminology related to oral health care.
  • Hands-on experience with X-ray procedures, medical imaging techniques including 3D scanners, and pediatric dentistry practices is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices and aseptic techniques necessary for maintaining a safe clinical environment.
