Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Dental Services Manager, responsible for performing professional dental care in the field of dental assisting, including all related clinical procedures. Assist with the responsibilities for clinical and community dental health education activities.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist the dentist and hygienist during examination or treatment of patients.
  • Preparation and setting up of instruments, materials and equipment necessary for each procedure.
  • Responsible for the sterilization and disinfects instruments, set up instrument trays, and routine maintenance of equipment and work areas.
  • Takes and records medical and dental history and vital signs of patients.
  • Exposes and mount dental diagnostic X-ray.
  • Takes preliminary impressions for study models and occlusal registrations mounting study casts. Pours and trims and polishes study casts, fabricates customs impression trays from preliminary impressions, cleans and polishes removable appliances, and fabricates temporary restorations and crowns.
  • Educates patients in appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health (e.g., tooth brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling).
  • Provides postoperative instruction prescribed by dentist.
  • Records treatment information in patient’s dental record.
  • Presents treatment plans and dental services.
  • Takes inventory of dental supplies and materials needed.
  • Participates as a part of the Dental Office Team in performing general business functions.
  • Provides Dental Front Desk support as assigned (cashiering, scheduling appointments, greeting patients, etc.).
  • Communicates and demonstrates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Texas State Board of Dental Examination Dental Assistant Registered.
  • Texas State Board of Dental Examiners Radiology Certification.
  • Knowledge of ADA coding.
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in a dental care setting preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
