Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments using aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment.
- Assist dentists during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring smooth workflow through four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging such as 3D scans, ensuring accurate positioning and patient comfort.
- Manage patient records by updating medical documentation, medical coding, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
- Collect vital signs and medical history information to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and managing dental terminology for effective communication.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones as a dental receptionist, and maintaining electronic health records using EMR systems like Dentrix or Epic.
Experience
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in dental assisting procedures.
- Knowledge of infection control protocols, sterilization processes, and aseptic techniques essential for maintaining a safe clinical setting.
- Skilled in operating dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices.
- Familiarity with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing patient records and scheduling.
- Understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology to communicate effectively within the team.
- Experience supporting pediatric dentistry or working with children is a plus.
