Job Summary

Aspiring to hire a friendly dental assistant at a local family dental practice in Hammond, LA. We are looking for a dedicated hard worker that enjoys dentistry and working in a friendly environment. We hope you will want to be apart of our dental team!

The dental assistant will greet patients, lead them to the examining room, and prepare them to see the dentist. Main responsibilities include assisting the dentist in examining and assisting the dentist in dental procedures. May also perform some dental procedures on own if qualified. Will perform administrative tasks such as filing, answering phones, organizing patient records as needed.

Responsibilities and Duties

Dental Assistant Duties and Responsibilities

· Gathering patient information and health background

· Pulling up patient dental and relevant medical history for dentist to refer to during examination

· Preparing patients for dentist

· Providing patient care and support

· Taking X-rays of patient’s teeth and processing results

· Sterilizing dental instruments and equipment

· Preparing the work area for procedures

· Assisting dentist by using suction hoses and other equipment during exam

· Assisting dentist by handing them instruments and equipment, taking notes when needed

· Educating patients on good oral hygiene habits

· Preparing materials for crowns or dental impressions

· Updating patient records and treatment plans

· Directing patients and maintaining schedule

· Stocking treatment areas and monitoring inventory

· Calling patients for aftercare and answering questions on procedures and follow-up treatment appointments

Qualifications and Skills

Dental Assistant Requirements and Qualifications

· Accurate and precise attention to detail

· Excellent understanding of dental procedures

· Compassionate and caring of patients

· Knowledge of aseptic and sterilizing techniques

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Able to work in an intense, concentrated environment

· Calm and cool-headed with a positive attitude

· Complies with all regulations, protocols, and procedures

· Dental Assisting certification

· Current certification in CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)

· X-Ray Certification: Meet all local and state requirements to operate radiography equipment

· Understanding of standard practices and procedures

· Good interpersonal skills and communication

· Computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite and/or scheduling software

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
