Duties
Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all instruments and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control standards. Manage patient flow by taking vital signs, medical history updates, and explaining procedures clearly to reduce anxiety and foster trust. Operate dental imaging equipment such as X-ray machines and 3D scanners with precision while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Maintain accurate medical documentation and records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Epic, ensuring all data is up-to-date and compliant with healthcare standards. Support chairside assisting through four-handed dentistry techniques, providing seamless support to the dental team during procedures. Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing patient check-in/out processes as a dental receptionist, and coordinating with insurance providers for medical coding and billing. Implement infection control protocols using aseptic techniques and knowledge of anatomy to prevent cross-contamination in the dental clinic environment.

Qualifications
Previous experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare setting is preferred. Proficiency in dental terminology, medical terminology, and familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix is essential for accurate documentation. Certification in X-ray operation and knowledge of infection control practices are required to ensure safety standards are met. Strong understanding of anatomy, medical coding, HIPAA compliance, and medical records management is necessary for effective support of clinical operations. Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients of all ages, including pediatrics, along with the ability to work efficiently within a team using four-handed dentistry techniques. Ability to adapt quickly to new technology such as 3D scanners and advanced imaging tools while maintaining high standards of aseptic technique.
