Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using infection control protocols and aseptic techniques
  • Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, providing necessary instruments and materials efficiently
  • Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging) while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and safety standards
  • Manage medical documentation by accurately recording patient medical history, vital signs, and treatment details in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
  • Support administrative tasks by acting as a dental receptionist—answering patient inquiries, scheduling appointments, and maintaining organized medical records and medical coding for billing purposes
  • Conduct medical imaging procedures using advanced tools like 3D scanners to assist with diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Maintain strict infection control standards through proper sterilization techniques and knowledge of anatomy to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff

Requirements

  • Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in dental assisting procedures and terminology
  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, along with experience using Epic or similar medical documentation platforms
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, and anatomy relevant to dentistry
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while maintaining radiation safety standards
  • Strong understanding of pediatric dentistry practices and the unique needs of pediatric patients
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with dentists, dental receptionists, patients, and team members
  • Certification or training in dental assisting is preferred; ongoing education in areas like endodontics or prosthodontics is advantageous
