Schedule
- Full-time
- Evening hours every other Monday
- 1 Saturday per month (rotated between assistants) – approximately 4 Saturdays per year
- Saturday surgeries take place at our Dearborn location
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the oral surgeon with procedures including extractions, implants, and oral surgery
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and operatories
- Take and process dental X-rays and CBCT scans
- Monitor patient vital signs before, during, and after surgery
- Provide pre- and post-operative instructions
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical documentation
- Manage surgical supplies and maintain inventory
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control protocols
- Assist with patient scheduling and follow-up care when needed
Qualifications
- Dental assisting experience required
- Experience in oral surgery preferred
- Radiology certification
- CPR certification
- Knowledge of dental and medical terminology
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented surgical environment
- Ability to assist patients following sedation procedures and lift up to 50 lbs if needed
