Responsibilities
- Assist dentists chairside during various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and sterilization techniques following aseptic protocols.
- Take dental X-rays and utilize advanced imaging tools such as 3D scanners to support accurate diagnoses.
- Manage patient records using EMR systems (Open dental) while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Perform vital signs assessment and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to ensure safety and well-being.
- Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and managing patient communications.
- Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization, handling of medical documentation, and adherence to OSHA guidelines.
- Assist with medical coding and documentation for insurance claims and billing processes related to dental procedures.
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions to promote ongoing wellness.
Qualifications
- While experience as a Licensed Dental Assistant will be much appreciated, our office leadership is willing to train and guide the right candidate to get licensed. If you think you have excellent teamwork skills, please don't hastate to apply.
- Familiarity with EDR systems such as OPEN DENTAL experience with medical/dental records management is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners confidently.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, team members, and healthcare providers.
- Certification in dental assisting or relevant training in chairside assisting; additional certifications in radiography or pediatrics are advantageous.
