The Dental Assistant will support the General Practice Dental Residency Program by maintaining a clean clinic, stocking and restocking of dental materials, PPE and equipment, taking and pouring preliminary impressions, taking radiographs, four-handed dental assisting, managing case flow for laboratory cases, patient education, seating and dismissing patients and all other duties of a dental assistant the clinic director deems necessary.

May work in the University Dental Health Services (UDHS) department as needed.

Job Summary

Performs chairside dental assisting and radiography. Guides patients through visits and treatments, ensures charts are complete and necessary information is collected, and coordinates patient flow. Ensures infection control in operatories and with instruments. Maintains supplies.

Essential Functions
  • Operatory preparation and chairside assistance to the General Practice Dental Residency Clinic & University Dental Health Services Clinic
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) software preferred, not required
  • Maintain an aseptic environment; sterilizing and organizing dental tools
  • Follow OSHA and infection control and

    HIPAA guidelines

  • Maintain & dispense inventory
  • Update patient records

Physical Effort

Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
