Dental Assistant

Duties

  • Prepare treatment rooms with all necessary instruments, materials, and supplies for various dental procedures.
  • Assist dentists during examinations and treatments by handing instruments, managing suction, and ensuring patient comfort through chairside assistance.
  • Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners, while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
  • Manage patient records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems like Dentrix , ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality.
  • Monitor vital signs and medical documentation for patients requiring pediatric dentistry or specialized care such as prosthodontics or endodontics.
  • Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and acting as a dental receptionist when needed.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile environment following infection control protocols, including proper sterilization of instruments and disposal of biohazard materials.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures.
  • Proficiency in Dental terminology, medical coding, and medical documentation practices.
  • Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix is highly desirable.
  • Certification in X-ray techniques and knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry.
  • Strong understanding of infection control standards, aseptic technique, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining excellent patient rapport.
  • Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices and experience working with pediatric patients is a plus.

Pay: $24.20 - $29.15 per hour
