Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures of pediatric dentistry, ensuring optimal patient comfort and safety
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and maintaining aseptic techniques in accordance with infection control protocols
- Take and process dental digital radiographs (X-ray), while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
- Manage medical documentation by accurately recording vital signs, medical history, dental terminology, and treatment details in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic
- Support patient check-in and check-out processes as a friendly dental receptionist, verifying insurance information and scheduling appointments
- Maintain infection control standards through proper sterilization procedures and knowledge of anatomy to assist with chairside procedures efficiently
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and vital signs monitoring
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices to effectively support young patients’ needs
- Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with patients, team members, and healthcare providers
