LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Pediatric department is seeking motivated and experienced applicants for the position of Dental Assistant Supervisor.
Dental Assistant Supervisor provides daily operational leadership for the Pediatric Dentistry clinical enterprise, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of patient care while supporting the educational mission for dental students and residents.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years of experience as a dental assistant or dental hygienist.

Job Duties and Other Information


Duties and responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Assign daily coverage and chairside responsibilities; ensure professionalism, accountability, and performance expectations; provide coaching, corrective guidance, and workflow oversight to support patient care and educational operations.
  • Coordinate patient communication processes (calls, confirmations, follow-ups, service recovery); ensure timely scheduling, continuity of care, and resolution of access issues; collaborate with providers to maintain efficient clinic flow.
  • Oversee check-in/check-out functions, scheduling accuracy, patient flow processes, and professional communication standards; ensure proper routing of patient information and documentation in approved systems.
  • Monitor clinical supply levels; perform routine inventory checks; coordinate ordering and restocking; maintain standardized operatory setup and clinic organization; initiate equipment service requests as needed.
  • Implement and maintain training protocols for pediatric dental assisting; ensure staff competence to support and train dental students and residents in four-handed dentistry technique and standardized procedures.

Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm
Compensation: MS510 starting pay range $36,442. Pay is dependent upon applicants’ qualifications. There is an additional $1 Longevity pay for hours worked only.
