Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft.
- Assist the dental team during procedures by preparing instruments, taking x-rays, and maintaining sterilization standards.
- Handle medical billing and collections efficiently, including insurance verification, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and Medicare claims processing.
- Maintain accurate and complete dental records and documentation review in compliance with HIPAA regulations and EHR systems like Meditech or Epic.
- Manage front desk duties such as answering multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, managing patient intake forms, and organizing filing systems for medical records.
- Support office management tasks including appointment reminders, patient follow-up calls, and handling billing inquiries with excellent customer service skills.
- Ensure compliance with health information management protocols and assist in training new staff on office procedures and dental terminology.
Requirements
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical coding (ICD-10, CPT).
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms; experience with Epic or Meditech is a plus.
- Familiarity with insurance verification processes, medical billing practices, and Medicare/Medicaid procedures.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10 key), and familiarity with health information management systems like Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide outstanding patient service; bilingual abilities are highly valued.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review and medical administrative support.
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with hospital or healthcare settings is advantageous.
