Dental Assistant/Receptionist

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Dental Assistant/Receptionist to join our vibrant dental team! This role combines front desk administrative support with clinical assistance, creating a seamless patient experience from check-in to treatment. The ideal candidate will bring energy, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding patient care. You will be the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, insurance verification, and medical records, while also assisting with clinical procedures as needed. Duties

  • Greet patients warmly, check them in and out efficiently, and manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
  • Verify insurance coverage, process claims, and handle billing using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
  • Maintain accurate and complete medical and dental records in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems including eClinicalWorks or similar platforms
  • Assist dental providers during procedures by preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and ensuring patient comfort
  • Review documentation for accuracy, including care plans, medical histories, and treatment notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; respond promptly to patient inquiries and appointment requests
  • Perform administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies to ensure smooth clinic operations

Requirements

  • Experience in a dental office or medical clinic setting with strong knowledge of dental terminology and medical coding (ICD-10, CPT coding) is preferred
  • One year on job training, after 1 year is up, need to take radiography state exam
  • Experience with health information management is highly valued
  • Knowledge of insurance verification processes including Medicare and Medicaid billing procedures
  • Ability to handle medical collection processes accurately and efficiently while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively in bilingual environments preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and medical records management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and basic computer skills for data entry and office management tasks
  • Previous clinic or hospital experience is a plus; familiarity with dental office procedures strongly preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and positive attitude
