Dental Assistant/Receptionist

Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Dental Assistant/Receptionist, where you will be the friendly face and efficient organizer at the front desk and clinical areas of our busy dental practice. This is a private office, and we have two locations. This role combines vital administrative support with clinical assistance, ensuring smooth daily operations and exceptional patient care. You will be responsible for managing patient intake, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, maintaining accurate medical records, and supporting dental procedures with professionalism and enthusiasm. Your proactive approach will help create a welcoming environment that promotes patient satisfaction and operational excellence.

Duties

  • Greet patients warmly, verify insurance coverage, and handle appointment scheduling using systems like Eaglesoft.
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, providing clear information and directing calls appropriately.
  • Perform insurance verification, authorization, and billing procedures utilizing EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth.
  • Assist dental providers during procedures by preparing instruments, taking X-rays, and maintaining sterilization protocols in compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Review and update medical records accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems including eClinicalWorks or similar platforms.
  • Handle patient intake processes, document review, and ensure all documentation aligns with HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and security.
  • Support administrative tasks such as filing dental records, managing office supplies, and maintaining a clean, organized front desk environment.
  • Utilize computer skills to update patient information, process payments via medical billing software, and perform data entry with precision (including 10 key typing).

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a dental office setting or healthcare environment with familiarity in dental terminology and medical coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT).
  • Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Eaglesoft; proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and a friendly demeanor.
  • Ability to perform medical administrative support tasks including insurance verification, billing, filing, and documentation review.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
  • Prior clinic experience or hospital experience is highly desirable; familiarity with HIPAA compliance is essential.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in medical records management and office management duties.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
