Duties
- Greet patients warmly and assist with check-in and check-out procedures using dental office management software open dental
- Schedule appointments accurately while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance authorizations, and handle billing inquiries using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Meditech
- Maintain organized medical records, review documentation for accuracy, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with patient intake processes, including gathering medical history and updating EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems such as Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks
- Support administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and managing office supplies to keep the front desk running smoothly
- Handle phone etiquette professionally while providing exceptional customer service to patients and visitors
Skills
- Proven experience in a medical or dental office setting with strong clinic experience and familiarity with dental terminology
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms
- Knowledge of medical coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), ICD coding, and medical billing procedures
- Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately using Medicare or other insurance portals; understanding of care plans and documentation review processes
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; typing speed of at least 10 key digits per second; familiarity with health information management practices
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in filing, medical records management, and office management tasks
- Bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Exceptional phone etiquette combined with outstanding patient service skills; ability to handle multi-line phone systems confidently
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient privacy at all times
