Dental Hygienist

Duties

  • Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
  • Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, reviewing medical histories, and evaluating oral health status.
  • Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, preventive care, and treatment options to promote lifelong dental health.
  • Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to ensure smooth workflow and patient comfort.
  • Operate medical imaging equipment such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
  • Review documentation for accuracy, update medical coding as necessary, and ensure all patient information is correctly recorded in medical records.

Qualifications

  • Valid state licensure as a Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
  • Proven experience in dental office settings, with familiarity in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry preferred.
  • Proficiency with dental software systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with EMR systems is advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control procedures, aseptic technique, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while maintaining excellent patient care and rapport.
  • Knowledge of pediatric dentistry practices is a plus for working with young patients effectively.

Pay: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
